The Lake Granbury Newcomers Club (LGNC) was founded in 1978 by Granbury resident Helen Shorter, who envisioned a welcoming environment where new residents could build friendships and integrate into the vibrant Granbury community. Inspired by the town's unique charm and the growing number of newcomers eager to connect, Helen set out to create a space dedicated to camaraderie and support.
The club’s inaugural meeting took place at the historic Four Doors Down Club on Pearl Street, a venue steeped in local history. Twenty-five women gathered for that first meeting.  Today LGNC boasts over 500 members.
From its modest beginnings, LGNC has grown into a cornerstone of Granbury’s social fabric, offering events, activities, and opportunities for involvement that reflect the diversity and interests of its members.
